How to use TakeoffAI.

Plan Sheet Takeoff

  1. Go to Job Management and create or open a job.
  2. Click + to upload a plan sheet (PDF, PNG, JPG, TIFF, WebP, DXF).
  3. Click AI Analyze — Claude will detect roof sections and draw polygons.
  4. Click Set Scale, draw a line over a known dimension, enter its real length.
  5. Select each polygon, set its Pitch, and confirm the label.
  6. Use Draw to manually add missing sections.
  7. Click Save then Report to generate a PDF takeoff.

Site Photo Measurement

  1. Click the camera button to upload a site photo (JPG, PNG, WebP).
  2. Click AI Analyze — Claude will outline visible exterior surfaces (walls, panels, fascia).
  3. Click Set Scale and draw a line over a known element in the photo:
    Standard door ≈ 7 ft · Window ≈ 3–4 ft · Brick course ≈ 2.67 in
  4. Areas calculate automatically once scale is set.

Canvas Controls

  • Scroll wheel — zoom in/out at cursor
  • Click + drag on background — pan the drawing
  • Drag vertex handle — reshape a polygon
  • Click midpoint dot — insert a new vertex on that edge
  • Drag midpoint dot — bow the edge into a curved arc
  • Drag arc handle (white circle on curve) — adjust the curve
  • Double-click arc handle — straighten the edge back
  • Double-click vertex — remove it
  • Escape — cancel any active drawing mode

Cut Hole & Split

  • Select a section, then click Cut Hole — draw a shape inside it to subtract that area (skylights, equipment pads, etc.).
  • Select a section, then click Split — draw a line across it; dbl-click to divide it into two named sections.
  • Both tools update area calculations automatically.
